What My Executive Coaching Actually Does

Executive coaching is a personalized partnership where I work one-on-one with leaders to sharpen their skills, overcome blind spots, and achieve goals that move the needle.

It is a focused development tailored to your challenges, your goals, and the gaps holding you back from the next level.

Through structured sessions, my executive coaching helps leaders improve decision-making, build executive presence, and develop the skills to lead teams and organizations under pressure.

Research shows that executive coaching delivers significant improvements in goal attainment, self-efficacy, and resilience – the traits that separate high performers from those who plateau.

If you’re smart but stalled, executive coaching is the lever that unsticks you.

How My Executive Coaching Helps You Lead Better

Why I am the Executive Coach you need

I've Been Where You Are

I spent years at KPMG and EY dealing with toxic bosses, office politics, and impossible deadlines.

I Speak Finance

As a Chartered Accountant, CFA charterholder, and ex-Finance Director, I understand the unique pressures finance professionals face better than 99% of coaches.

I Built and Sold a Business

I co-founded a company and sold it to Kaplan Inc. My executive coaching comes from building something real, leading through uncertainty, and creating value under pressure

Serious Credentials

I hold the Level 7 Qualification in Coaching and Mentoring from the UK’s ILM – one of the most respected credentials in the field.

I Built My Brand From Zero

I built successful business and personal brands from nothing. If you want to develop executive presence and a reputation that opens doors, I know exactly how to help you do it.

Relentless Drive

I’ve cycled brutal mountain passes and climbed peaks that nearly broke me. I’ll push you further than you thought possible, but I won’t do the work for you.

Binod is an amazing speaker. His presentation on “Bridging the Skills Gap” was really insightful. I could relate to so many areas of his personal story. His experience in overcoming challenges thrown at him over so many years and his insights into mountaineering – how it teaches you to embrace failure and yet keep on moving forward- would have motivated many individuals.
- Nikhil Bansal VP, OakNorth Bank, Bangalore
Binod ran a session for our Group of HR Professionals entitled: “Coaching Your Future Leaders”. His presentation was very insightful and interesting and was deemed very relevant given today’s challenges faced by people leaders. His extensive knowledge coupled with his robust work experience shone through his presentation. I also appreciated his open style and commitment to deliver an excellent presentation as he made sure that I am happy with the content by holding several conversations with me prior to the event. - Mark Galea CHRO, , Malta
I had the pleasure of attending a session by Binod Shankar on ‘Women in Leadership’. The depth that Binod went into gave the audience a taste of what women face in breaking through the glass ceiling. His practical advice on how ‘stuck managers’ can advance their careers by increasing their influence at work and being more visible was really simple when you think of it in hindsight but not many make a conscious effort to do them.
- Eugene D’ Souza CFO, Sony Middle East, Dubai
Binod was an exceptional speaker. His session on “Finding Your Values” was truly inspiring and thought-provoking. Binod’s ability to connect with the audience on a personal level was remarkable. Executive Coaching Questions, Answered

What exactly is executive coaching?

Executive coaching isn’t about pep talks or quick fixes. It’s straight talk that cuts through excuses and blind spots. You get clarity on who you are, what holds you back, and how to move forward. The result? Smarter decisions, stronger performance, and the confidence to lead with impact when it really counts.

What do you do as an executive coach?

Executive coaching is not hand-holding or therapy. It’s a no-nonsense process that forces clarity, challenges your thinking, and pushes you out of comfort zones. It’s about creating leaders who deliver results without losing their soul.

How can executive coaching help my career?

If you’re smart but stalled, executive coaching is the game changer. It helps you see blind spots, build presence, and accelerate your rise. In today’s brutal corporate world, that edge can be the difference between stuck and CEO.

What makes your executive coaching style unique?

Most coaches nod politely. I don’t. I quickly call out your excuses, break illusions, and demand action. My style is provocative, practical, and rooted in real corporate scars, not textbook jargon.

What kind of results can I expect from your coaching?

If you put in the work, expect sharper decisions, stronger leadership presence, faster promotions, and a team that actually performs. Executive coaching won’t turn you into Superman, but it will strip away what’s holding you back. It will give you clarity which is the foundation for everything else.

How do I know if leadership coaching is right for me?

Smart managers stuck in middle management, ambitious executives aiming for the corner office, or leaders who want to move from competent to unforgettable. Leadership coaching benefits anyone sick of mediocrity and ready to win big.

How does your corporate background influence your coaching?

I am a Chartered Accountant and CFA charter holder and I’ve been a finance director, battled office politics, and led teams under pressure. That real-world corporate grit means my executive coaching comes with lived experience, not theory. I’ve been in the trenches, so I know.

What is the difference between executive coaching and mentoring?

Mentoring is directional and is based on expertise and a mentor tells you what to do. Coaching is more consensus based and facilitative. I do both, often with the same client, depending on what the client needs. Sometimes clients need instruction and sometimes they need exploration.

Typically, how long does executive coaching engagement sessions last?

Coaching isn’t a quick motivational chat. This isn’t like learning financial modelling or IFRS- real behavioral change takes time. A typical engagement lasts 6–12 months, long enough to break old habits, test new behaviors, and embed leadership skills that stick. Transformation needs discipline, not shortcuts.

The Man Behind The Magic

I don’t do the typical coach thing: nodding sympathetically while you talk in circles. My executive coaching cuts through the noise and gets straight to what’s holding you back.

I’m a Chartered Accountant, CFA charterholder, and qualified coach who spent years at KPMG and EY, then co-founded a company and sold it to Kaplan Inc. That means I’ve lived the same pressure, politics, and impossible decisions you’re dealing with right now.

My approach is simple: I won’t pretend your problems are unique when they’re not. I’ll give you honest feedback, practical strategies, with a touch of humour to keep you from taking yourself too seriously.

If you want someone to tell you everything’s fine, hire a therapist. If you want executive coaching that pushes you to actually change, let’s talk.
